Start tracking stock

For owners and managers · updated 18 Oct 2026

Add an ingredient, say how it's counted and where it's kept, and which dishes use it.

Back office Stock Ingredients Add an ingredient

  1. Open Stock and tap Add an ingredient.
  2. Give it a name, and choose how it's counted: Weight (kg and g), Volume (litres and ml) or Pieces (cans, bottles, eggs, buns).
  3. Optional: a Pack ("5 kg bag", "case of 24") and what it Holds, so counts can be "2 bags + 1.2 kg".
  4. Choose where it's Kept in (a place such as Cold room, Dry store or Bar) and Low below (Tillmora suggests a few days of use).
  5. Under Which dishes use it, and how much?, add each dish or add-on and its amount (by size if it differs).
  6. Choose At 0, its dishes are sold out (on every till, the QR page and the kiosk), or let them still sell.
  7. Save, then count it once: the first count is the starting stock.

Bottles, cans and packaged snacks? Use Count dishes as they are: each becomes something you count in pieces, and selling one uses one.

Example

Paneer in a curry house

Paneer, counted by Weight, pack "1 kg block". Kept in: Cold room. Low below: 3 kg. Used by: Paneer Tikka 180 g, Paneer Butter Masala 150 g (Half 90 g), Palak Paneer 150 g. At 0, its dishes are sold out.

Example

Soft drinks at a café

Count dishes as they are › from the category Cold drinks: Coke 375 ml, Lemonade, Sparkling water. Each sale uses one; at 0 it shows sold out.

Do I have to track everything?

No, and it's better not to. Spices, gas and small things aren't worth counting. Track the few that cost the most or go missing.

What happens if I stop tracking an ingredient?

Stop tracking: its dishes stop using it from now. Past deliveries, counts and reports keep it.

If it goes wrong

"Count it to start"

An ingredient needs its first count before Tillmora knows what you have. Count it on a till or in the back office.

If it goes wrong

"… isn't used by any dish yet"

It only changes with counts and deliveries. Open it and say which dishes use it.
