Cash in, cash out and no sale
Money that goes into or out of the drawer without a sale (change from the bank, paying a supplier, petty cash) is recorded with a reason, so the count still balances.
Till Menu (☰) Shift and drawer Cash in (or Cash out)
- Open Shift and drawer.
- Tap Cash in or Cash out.
- Type the amount and pick a reason (or Other… and type one).
- Above your restaurant's limit, a manager approves with their PIN.
- To open the drawer without a sale (for change), tap No sale. It's recorded with who did it.
Example
Paying the milk supplier
The milk delivery is 48.00 cash on arrival. Cash out 48.00, reason "Supplier: milk". The shift report lists it under Cash in and out, and the count expects 48.00 less.
Example
Change from the bank
The manager brings 100 in coins. Cash in 100, reason "Change from bank".
Why does "No sale" need recording?
Opening the drawer without a sale is a common way cash goes missing. The back office shows who opened it without a sale, and how often.
If it goes wrong
"Open the shift first"
Cash in and out belong to a shift. Open the shift, then record it.
