Categories, courses and quick notes
Categories group dishes on the till and the menu page. A category can also set the course (so mains can be held and fired) and the quick notes staff tap for its dishes.
Back office Menu Stations and categories Categories Add
- Open the Stations and categories tab and, under Categories, tap Add.
- Give it a Name, and put it Inside another category if it belongs there (for example Cold drinks inside Drinks).
- Pick its Colour on the till.
- Optional: a Course on the till (Starters, Mains, Desserts or Drinks) so its dishes can be held, then fired.
- Under Quick notes, keep Same as the restaurant, or set Its own notes (for example "No onion", "Less spicy").
- Tap Save.
Example
Curries with their own quick notes
Category Curries, inside Mains, colour orange, course Mains. Quick notes: Its own: "Less spicy", "No onion", "No garlic", "Extra gravy". On the till, one tap adds the note, and it prints on the kitchen ticket.
What does a course do?
Dishes in a course can be held when the order is sent, then fired together ("Fire mains") when the table is ready.
Where do I set the first tab on the till?
That's Favourites: see Favourites on the till.
If it goes wrong
I can't remove a category
Move or remove its dishes first. Dishes keep their sales history either way.
