Import your menu from a spreadsheet
Bring a whole menu in at once from Excel, Google Sheets or Numbers. Importing again later updates the dishes whose code already exists.
Back office Menu Import from spreadsheet
- Tap Import from spreadsheet, then Copy the template and paste it into a new spreadsheet.
- Fill in one row per dish. For sizes, add one row per size with the same name.
- Save it as CSV (in Excel: File › Save As › CSV UTF-8).
- Tap Choose file and pick the CSV.
- Tillmora checks every row first. Fix anything it lists; nothing is saved until all rows are right.
- Tap Import to add the new dishes and update the rest.
Example
A café's coffee list
The template's columns are Category, Subcategory, Name, Local name, Price, Size, Code, Station, Food type, Search words, Description. Only some are needed:
| Category | Name | Price | Size | Code |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Coffee | Flat white | 5.00 | FW | |
| Coffee | Cappuccino | 5.00 | CAP | |
| Coffee | Latte | 5.00 | Regular | LR |
| Coffee | Latte | 6.00 | Large | LL |
The import reports 3 new items (the latte has two sizes) and creates the Coffee category if it doesn't exist. Column names like "Item", "Rate" or "Variant" are understood too.
Can I use the import to change prices?
Yes. Change the prices in the spreadsheet and import it again: dishes whose code already exists are updated.
Does the import delete dishes that aren't in the file?
No. It only adds and updates. To take a dish off, open it and tap Take off the menu.
If it goes wrong
"Row 12: …" problems listed before importing
Nothing has been saved. Fix those rows in the spreadsheet, save it as CSV again and choose it again.
If it goes wrong
The import stopped part-way
The dishes before the row it names were imported. Fix that row and import the same file again: existing codes update rather than duplicate.
