Areas and fees
Where you deliver and what it costs, checked top to bottom: the first rule that matches an address decides, and no-go areas always come first.
Back office Settings Delivery Areas & fees
- + Band: up to a distance by road, a fee, and optionally a minimum order, free delivery over an amount and extra minutes.
- + Area by postcode: postcodes or suburb names that get their own fee, whatever the distance. An area goes above the bands, so it wins.
- + Per km past the last band: a fee plus so much a km, up to a limit, for far deliveries.
- + No-go area: postcodes or suburbs you never deliver to; guests there are offered pickup.
- Tap a rule to change it; … moves it up or down or removes it.
Example
Inner suburbs at one price
Saffron & Co adds Inner: 6107, 6110, 6112 at $5, free over $30. 12 Lake St, Gosnells (6110) is 6.1 km by road, which would be the $12 band, but Inner comes first, so the guest pays $5.
Example
Far deliveries that pay their way
Past 10 km: $12 plus $1 a km, up to 15 km. 12.4 km costs $14.40.
A guest is just past the last band. What do they see?
"Just outside our area" with the distance, and Pick it up instead? with how long the drive is. Add a per-km rule or a bigger band if you'd rather deliver.
How do I give free delivery on Tuesdays, or for a first order?
An area's or band's Free delivery over works every day by itself. For anything more, add a promotion in Settings › Promotions: the offer Charge waived › Delivery fee, then All of it, An amount off or A share off (50% is half-price delivery). Under More conditions › Delivery: within a distance by road, to some postcodes or suburbs, or the guest's first delivery. Add Tuesday under When and Online under Where as you like.
Example
Half-price delivery nearby
Saffron & Co adds "Half-price delivery nearby": Delivery fee, a share off, 50%; within 3 km; online. Lee orders $11 of food to Cannington, 2.5 km away: the fee is $5, so Lee pays $2.50 and the bill shows "Half-price delivery nearby −$2.50". The same order 6 km away pays the full fee.
A delivery offer didn't apply on the till while the internet was down
Offers "within so many km" need the road distance, which needs the internet. When the till is offline the offer waits; offers by postcode or suburb still work.
If it goes wrong
A postcode area isn't being used
Areas are checked in order. If a band sits above the area, the band wins: open … on the area and Move up, or check the postcode is typed as guests' addresses have it.
