Tax
Every tax is yours to name, print and rate. Set it up before the first bill: your country's preset fills in a starting point you can change.
Back office Settings Tax
- Open Settings › Tax (owner or admin).
- No taxes yet? Tap Use the … preset for your country, or Start from scratch.
- Check the rates, whether Menu prices have Tax included or Tax added, and the Rounding (Per bill or Per line).
- Under Registration for each branch, choose Registered (with your business number and the Legal name (printed on bills)), Not registered, or a simplified scheme where your country has one.
- Make sure dishes have a default tax group, then tap Confirm this setup. Your name and the date are recorded, and so is any later change.
Example
Australia
Preset: GST 10%, menu prices Tax included, one "Food & drinks" group as the default. Registration: Registered, ABN 12 345 678 901, legal name Harbour Lane Pty Ltd. A 5.50 flat white shows 0.50 GST inside the price.
Example
India
Preset: GST 5% for a restaurant, Tax added on menu prices (CGST 2.5% and SGST 2.5% on the bill), GSTIN for the branch (its first two digits are the state). Delivery-app orders are marked "tax paid by the platform" where the law says so. Check it with your accountant.
Only in India
Restaurants under the composition scheme don't charge GST on bills: choose that scheme under Registration, and bills say what the law asks.
My state has its own rate
Some countries' rates depend on the state or province. The setup asks for it; leave it empty if it doesn't apply.
Who can change tax?
Only the owner or an admin. Every change is recorded.
If it goes wrong
"No default group: dishes without a rule get no tax"
Tap Make "…" the default, or put your taxes in a group such as "Food & drinks". Until then, dishes without a rule are charged no tax.
